| Our sense of agency إحساسـنا بالفاعلية الإرادية Explanation: Our sense of agency = إحساسـنا بالفاعلية الإرادية "Agency" is the quality of having free volition that makes individuals individually responsible for the actions they take. It is a central concept in law and ethics. The sense of agency is the awareness of being the responsible source of the volitional actions that we take, including the thoughts that we think. It implies a sense of ownership: the actions I take are mine. The terms "agent" and "patient" are commonly used in grammar. The agent is the noun or pronoun that is responsible for the action (the verb), while the patient is the noun or pronoun that suffers (undergoes) the action (the verb). In Arabic, these are referred to as الفاعل والمفعول. It would be sufficient to translate "our sense of agency" إحساسـنا بالفاعلية, but if you feel you need to be more explicit, try إحساسـنا بالفاعلية الإرادية. |
