neutral  Jennifer Levey: There is no such thing as 'South American legalese', and you cannot generalize. In Chile, 'despacho' is the judge's chambers, and the ST would refer to the fact that the case file has reached the top of the pile of those awaiting sentencing.

  -> Please note that I did not write "South American legalese", but "South American Spanish"(= NOT European Spanish). As for "despacho", I must admit that it could mean "chamber", true, I am not sure. So thanks for pointing it out.

  -> Thanks, Toni. Usually my gut reaction is wrong, but my mind immediately drifted back to the Spanish Constitutional Court Robing Room and Chambers in Madrid that I visited with a UK Euro-Group a few years ago - without getting blown up...
