Spanish term or phrase: sitial fuerte
From war memoirs of a fighter in the war between the English and the Boars in South Africa

Explanation:
In July, 1900, we went east, and one night Colonel Cradock sent for me with orders to take two men, one having some knowledge of German, and the other being Dick Aldworth, a brave comrade from the first months, to reconnoitre and find the strongpoint of the enemy (a dangerous cavalcade) successfully, so it was easy for our regiment to take up the fight in the battle of Diamond Hill, and on the flank the magnificent charge of the 16th and 17th Lancer Regiments was observed, where their boss, the Earl of Airlie, was killed.

Chapter 11
Are We Simply Making Roving Desperadoes of the Boers?

Its multitude of flat-topped hills, kopjes, covered with boulders, were natural strongpoints, ideal for Boers dug in.

Since their lowest point of morale on 1 June Botha had assembled 6,000 men and twenty-three guns, ready for battle, straddling the railway, spread over a front of 30 miles with their centre on Diamond Hill, a 6-mile plateau 20 miles east of Pretoria.

Colonel the Earl of Airlie and the 12th Lancers were sent against them.

Stretcher-bearers went out that evening and found Airlie shot through the heart.

agree  neilmac: Seems logical in the context, although the DRAE definition of "sitial" doesn't seem to fit.

disagree  Zorra Renard: "strongpoint" is a characteristic, not a physical location !@Patinba: still wouldn't use it, to avoid ambiguity;

agree  patinba: Still insisting with misleading confidence levels I see. @Zorra: Not when it is all one word.
