agree  Aitor Salaberria: Asker's source text: "Sounds of chimes or similar instruments, which are played..." El sónido de la campana es un estándar, a mí me parece bien generalizarlo así, aparte de que se suele llamar así si se trata de dispositivos electrónicos.

agree  Laeticia Maris: Me parece una solución sencilla y de acuerdo con el uso específico en contextos de dispositivos electrónicos. "Campana de notificación" también me parece una solución, aunque más literal, al contexto de uso propuesto.

Siempre lo he conocido así (aunque hay otras formas de decirlo).

El repique de campanas o instrumentos similares...
... incluyendo el tañir de ellas... o una campana digital.
... el repique alerta que hay un nuevo mensaje. Cuando se reproduce, el repicar de una campana notifica el final del mensaje.
