  -> Genau das war auch mein Gedanke. Auf das "alarmingly" kann bzw. sollte man hier verzichten, da es schon in "plummet" enthalten ist. Ich war mir aber nicht ganz sicher. Vielen Dank für den Hinweis.

  -> Yes, this collocation is used but, nevertheless, I do think Francis is absolutely right. "plummet" means not only "fallen" but "bedrohlich fallen", so the adverb "alarmingly" is superfluous here. Anyway, thanks for your informative comment.
