Hebrew term

קמרון עליון

Hebrew to English Other Medical (general) Brain
In the results of a brain CT, there is a line that reads:

חתכים אקסילארים דרך המח ללא הזרקת חץנץ תוך ורידי מגובה פורמן מגנום ועד לקמרון עליון

What is a קמרון?

Discussion

Robert Hammer May 17, 2015:
I also got a CT report to translate that includes the same sentence.
While 'fornix' (arch in Latin) does resemble the meaning of the Hebrew word קמרון, nevertheless it seems to be the wrong translation here.

Refaeli & Shtreifler (Journal of the Israeli Neurological Association, Dec 2012 pp. 33-37) write:

בסדרת החולים הגדולה ביותר שדווחה עד כה, הממצא ההדמייתי הפתולוגי"
הנפוץ ביותר היה דמם תת-עכבישי קטן ממוקם (עשרים ושתיים אחוז)
במס' חריצים בסמוך לקמרון המוח"

The paper that they cite (Ducros A, Boukobza M, Porcher R, et al., Brain, 2007; 130,3091) makes no mention of fornix.
Rather, they write "In our series the most frequent complication of RCVS was cSAH [cortical subarachnoid hemorrhage] (22%), which consisted of small localized bleedings at the surface of the brain..."

So I would go with 'superior brain surface', unless someone suggests a more precise translation.

upper/superior fornix

The fornix is a band of white substance under the callosum, extending from the fimbria to the corpora mammilaria. It consists mainly of fibres connecting the hemispheres of the cerebrum.
