Language mediation is not simply the field of my expertise and professional interest, but is part of my lifestyle. Coming into contact with foreign cultures and discovering habits and traditions different from mines have always fascinated me.
I am a motivated and results-driven Italian translator with a solid knowledge of both English and Spanish language and culture.
I hold a BA degree in Translation and Interpreting, awarded by the University of Messina (Italy) and I have just completed a MA in TESOL and Translation Studies at Aston University (Birmingham, UK).
Both my BA and MA dissertation focused on the translation of children's production. Whereas the former consisted in the translation of 14 children's storybooks of 'Mr Men' from English into Italian, the latter concerned a comparative analysis of the original versions of two Disney films and their Spanish and Italian translated versions, aiming to identify the strategies employed for the translation of stereotypes.
Overall my academic and professional career provided me with a thorough understanding of the importance of multiculturalism and the processes which regulate linguistic mediation.
Particularly interested in developing a career in the translation of audiovisual products, I am currently considering the opportunity to explore what the field of communication has to offer. |
