I have been a full-time translator of Czech and Slovak into English (UK and US) since 1996. I specialise in EU, business, legal and technical translation.
I subcontract to a number of agencies providing translation services to the European Commission and European Parliament. I also translate and revise for a regular client base of leading European and US agencies, as well as private clients. In addition, I have taught English at a private language school in Prague (1991), and I lived in Slovakia from December 2005 until April 2009. Most of my annual vacations since birth have been spent in Slovakia, giving me a near native command of the language.
I hold postgraduate-level Diplomas in Translation, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL), for both Czech-English and Slovak-English. I am a member of the CIOL, the American Translators Association, and JTP (Jednota tlumočníků a překladatelů—Union of Interpreters and Translators) in the Czech Republic.
