Source text - English Lines Written on a Bank-Note
Wae worth thy power, thou cursed leaf!
Fell source o’ a’ my woe and grief,
For lack o’ thee I’ve lost my lass,
For lack o’ thee I scrimp my glass!
I see the children of affliction
Unaided, through thy curs’d restriction.
I’ve seen thee oppressor’s cruel smile
Amid his hapless victims’ spoil;
And for thy potence vainly wish’d,
To crush the villain in the dust.
For lack o’ thee, I leave this much-lov’d shore,
Never, perhaps, to greet old Scotland more.
I eat language for breakfast & lunch, especially my native language, Dutch. I also love the puzzle of transferring texts & ideas from one linguistic universe into another. I have especially experience with translating academic and literary texts, as well as historic source material. But also worked with commercial clients and I am willing to explore new worlds. Feel free to contact me if you wonder whether your text & me would be a good fit!
