…and I'll say it again: the Proz website doesn't offer a very user-friendly poll generator. It reminds me of those support pages or Frequent Q+A pages you find on websites. Most people just start a new question or discussion instead of running a search, even when the website clearly recommends or invites the user to do so!

I guess it's just human nature. Even I do it whenever I visit www.vinylengine.com to ask questions about turntables, cartridges or the like.

It seems to me that the ProZ.com moderators for these polls are mostly catering to beginners, and I remember most of the questions were interesting in the beginning - the first time around.
I also think that some translators prefer to stay anonymous, because they never know if their question gets modified to a point, where they don't recognize it themselves.
BTW: Recently I have submitted a couple of fresh and (at least to me) interesting questions, but for some reason ... Years ago, when I had a paid Proz membership, I did the same: I submitted what I thought were thought-provoking questions. They were probably cyber-shredded. | |
