A week or so skiing at Happone where they held the Nagano Olympic downhill or Hokkaido, home to some of the best powder on this planet. And, a long soak in a hot spring spa after many long hours of skiing guzzling champers.

My favourite holidays are historical/cultural - the Palladian villas of northern Italy, the historic cities of Spain, Mayan, Aztec or Inca monuments, that kind of thing. And anywhere volcanic - Iceland, Hawaii, Sicily (both cultural and volcanic). Can't get enough of it.

Over the years I made a few historical and cultural cruises to the Mediterranean Sea (Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Morocco) and loved all of them. Next on my wish list is the Baltic Sea. Besides that, like Yetta, I love making city breaks staying in good hotels. Still on my wish list: Budapest, Oslo and Saint Petersburg…

Skiing or in the summer time, just taking a look around the different cultures of the different countries. Used to do a lot of scuba diving, but as always - time!!

I have worked for a long time for a major European automaker, so I am used to driving around. I make a long road trip every year. Sometimes in America, sometimes in Europe. I've been doing this for almost 15 years. Last Fall I drove 10,000 miles in North America. Still planning the next one, maybe Scotland or Scandinavia.

My ideal vacation would include a translation conference.
I am not a beach person, prefer the countryside or another major city in Brazil.
Foreign travel is too expensive to be a regular pursuit, although I plan to visit Slovenia one day. I also plan to attend an ITI Conference but probably not this year. (Another issue is the fact that any international flight to Europe from São Paulo is 10 hours or more, and the crisis in Brazil has led to a reduction of flights, with several imp... (Another issue is the fact that any international flight to Europe from São Paulo is 10 hours or more, and the crisis in Brazil has led to a reduction of flights, with several important airlines such as Singapore Airlines and Korean Airlines having pulled out entirely, and other flights having been axed (like the link to Munich))
The next big event is the ABRATES Conference in my home town of São Paulo in May. A great opportunity for anyone wanting to visit Brazil. You can attend the conference and then enjoy such wonders as Iguaçu Falls, Copacabana Beach, the Christ the Redeemer Statue and the Curitiba to Morretes train ride. (I haven't mentioned the Amazon for logistic reasons - the flight to Manaus can take between 4 and 12 hours depending which flight you take). Ah, and May is an excellent time to visit Brazil - few tourists and the weather is not too hot. (By comparison it was 48 Celsius yesterday in the Bangu suburb of Rio - an area which is far from the famous beaches)
