Hello everyone, I'd like to ask you what you think about a job offer I got: there is a book, a blog and a podcast involved. The book is all right. About the blog, I wonder if I'm supposed to get it in Word or another format (I'll ask the client but I'd like to know what you're used to receive). The podcast: the client says: "Regarding the podcast, it would involve translating a script from English to French and then recording the text into a podcast.... About the blog, I wonder if I'm supposed to get it in Word or another format (I'll ask the client but I'd like to know what you're used to receive). The podcast: the client says: "Regarding the podcast, it would involve translating a script from English to French and then recording the text into a podcast." I've listened to it, it's easy to hear and understand, so that shouldn't be a problem. -I've never done this and I'd like to know if I would be able to do this. Am I supposed to translate what I hear and then record it? Does that mean I should say/read the text for the client to be able to listen to it? (The reading part isn't the biggest problem, it's more the technical part that's making me wonder if I can do it) -Do I need any specific software/hardware for this purpose? -For those who are experienced in this: would you tell me to go ahead and do it? What I mean is: do you think I would be able to do it right (knowing that I'm ready to put in time and energy, I'm not going to "guess around") or is this something that a newbie really shouldn't touch? -If I should/could, I imagine I'd have to charge by the hour or the half hour, so what would be an acceptable rate or at least range (if it helps, this client has a UK and a US phone number), or do you have any other suggestion? These are many questions, but I wouldn't like to throw myself in something undoable. However, I wouldn't like to let this go either, if I can do it and learn something. Thanks very much to those who will have time to answer, Anne

Thank you Henry. You're right, and I guess that's what I'll do. I would just have liked to have some hints on how to deal with this, but oh well. It also seems to me that not everybody does both transcription *and* recording (I have the impression that this last part is more of a job for a voice talent, and I thought somebody would tell me that). Anyway, the client is asking me if I'm willing to do it all, or which parts I would take over, so it's not a "... See more Thank you Henry. You're right, and I guess that's what I'll do. I just wanted to know what I'd be talking about at the time of giving him my answer. ▲ Collapse | | | Ade Indarta Indonésia Local time: 08:24 Membro (2007) inglês para indonésio Free transcription and voice recording software | Sep 6, 2007 |
