Or does the 'professional' mentioned here has a profile on proz.com or any other social media? Good luck. | | | If document is confidential only then make police complaint. | Jun 9, 2015 |
Did you have CV of him or link of proz.com profile? If have you can double check with any alternative ways. Sometime, people may be in any problem or in any medical emergencies, so they couldn't available for response. But it may be anything, so if document is confidential only then make police complaint.

Mostly it is the other way around, but don't jump to conclusions right away, something (bad) might have happened to him (????). You don't know! Like already stated, try to find out more about him using all the platforms available to us. For your sake I hope you haven't payed him yet. Succes.

... why in the world would you contact the police department because of fraud? Unless you paid him in advance, he is under no legal obligation to complete the project. He is free to stop working on a project at any time (of course, he will not be paid and he should notify you).

I must say that his behaviour is as strange... as yours! Did you pay him in advance? Where is the fraud? It looks very, very unprofessional, but it's not fraud. I wonder what the police said... | | | Natalie Poland Local time: 08:56 Member (2002) English to Russian + ... MODERATOR SITE LOCALIZER Did you take into account | Jun 9, 2015 |
the possibility that the translator had an accident and was admitted into the hospital? Life is full of surprises, you know... | | | Risk management | Jun 9, 2015 |
There is an interesting article on Risk management for outsourcers in the ProZ.com Wiki. I am not sure if it fully applies to this case, but outsourcers should have a positive information on the translators they hire. Regards, Enrique Cavalitto

Anything else we should do? For fraud? where exactly is the fraud? Have you paid anything in advance? Deciding that you couldn't be bothered to do a translation is not very professional, BUT in itself is not a fraud. Not to discard the possibility of all sorts of force majeur. Maybe this translator landed a more interesting job and just dumped you - this kind on nice behaviour goes both ways, occasionally translators are the one doing the dumping, not only the agencies. So there.
