The term «complementary services» reminds me of hotels and I don’t offer welcome drinks or free spa sessions. More to the point, as I said some days ago (a similar poll) the services I offer besides translation were mainly requested by my clients and they actually have a positive impact on what I earn, but initially the idea behind them wasn’t exactly increasing profitability…

I guarantee a happy ending every time, but the French maid outfit is extra.

Complementary is not free. It's a sale of additional services for a price on top of the original product, also called Upsell. Say, help with marketing or media research in the target country, if a translator is local.

Profitability would be highly dependent on the return on time investment vs pay for the words translated over the same time interval. Grab your abacus first:-)

Not worth it, methink.

Can the originator clarify the question please?

Hi,
The intended meaning is complementary (Upsell), as you explained.
Thanks!
