Being my own boss, I have no fixed pattern, I take days off here and there when it suits me, weekends, weekdays, special occasions and whenever there is no translation work. After completing a large project, I always allow myself one or two days off to freshen up. Some years work is hectic in August either because everybody else is on vacation or because I have been booked in advance (like now)…

When I am not fully booked Aug 22, 2024

I have taken time off in August, but largely because I was not booked for work.

The week 13 - 16 August was very busy, because I took two days off for family events at short notice, but by working in the evenings I was still able to deliver all the jobs that came in, as agreed, and one slightly early.

I have planned holiday, but not in August or July, which is the peak season where I live.

I haven't actually had to turn anything down but I would have if it had meant not being able to spend time with my children while they were staying with us.
