German term or phrase: Oberstufenrealgymasium
If you wanted your to use your school leaving certificate in the US, how would you translate ? Would you put it as something like Federal Senior Grammar School, even if they do not have grammar schools in the US? Any help much appreciated!

English translation:academic secondary school
Explanation:
1. A Realgymnasium is a secondary school with a focus on math and science. http://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/education_pedago...
2. An Oberstufengymnasium is the gymnasiale Oberstufe, i.e. the top three grades of secondary school: 11th, 12th and 13th.
3. We do have grammar schools in the US, but they are primary schools.
4. I usually translate Gymnasium as academic secondary school and I think that's how I'd translate your term, leaving out all the specifics.

Explanation:
There are no exact equivalents between the British/American/German school systems, so this is just a guess.
