share (or security carrying rights to share) Explanation: As far as corporations are concerned, the equity capital is divided into shares (titres de capital). The other securities considered above are not shares but have the same rights as shares. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2015-06-20 13:56:27 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.accorhotels-group.com/fileadmin/user_upload/Conte... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2015-06-20 13:57:11 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The link above gives an example of securities carrying rights to shares -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2015-06-20 14:47:49 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Response Asker: my understanding is that there are different ways of becoming a shareholder: through the acquisition of shares or securities carrying rights to shares. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2015-06-20 14:48:49 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Erratum: Response TO Asker instead of Response Asker |

equity or equity-linked securities Explanation: As opposed to debt securities. If you want to put something in parenthesis, use a laundry list of the usual suspects that can result in dilution of the share capital -- mainly, exchange-traded warrants, convertible bonds and all those O-acronym 'hybrids' beloved of French issuers (Océane, Obsar, etc. -- too numerous to list, hence the donnant-accès shorthand). BTW, this is NOT about stock futures and options traded on futures and options exchanges. |
