English term or phrase: Supreme Court, Appellate Division
Hello all you Legal-Eagles !
I am teetering between two translations of the above-mentioned term. It is at the top of a document issued by this court in the state of New York. In fact, the full text is as follows :

State of New York
Supreme Court, Appellate Division
Third Judicial Department

I am torn between the two following translations I have come up with:

La Cour d'Appel Intermédiaire
de l'État de New York
Troisième Circonscription Judiciaire

-or-

La Cour Suprême, Chambre d'Appel
de l'État de New York
Troisième Circonscription Judiciaire

I feel that the first translation, while perhaps less "faithful" to the wording of the text, is a more accurate rendition because in the State of NY, that is exactly what this Court is. However, I am torn between this more accurate "descriptive" translation and the second which is a more accurate translation linguistically.

Opinions ? Other suggestions ?
Many thanks in advance !
Jeff
