Описание клинического случая:

On 28-Oct-2019, the patient died (previously reported). An autopsy was not performed. Action taken with the study drug in response to
the event was reported as *withdrawn* (entered as not applicable).

The investigator considered the meningococcal sepsis to be related to the study drug (previously reported).
Additional information has been requested.

Follow up information was received from the investigator on 14-Jan-2020 and 16-Jan-2020.
The investigator amended the event term from "sepsis" to meningococcal sepsis (MENINGOCOCCAL SEPSIS).

It was further clarified that the patient was never discharged from the hospital until he died. The primary hospital did not perform
meningococcal serotype identification. Action taken with ALXN1210 was updated from *withdrawn* to not applicable.

Непонятно, что здесь означает "withdrawn". Пациенту просто прекратили давать исследуемый препарат или его исключили из исследования?

Explanation:
У вас же сказано, что "Action taken with the study drug in response to the event was reported as *withdrawn*". Т.е. меры в отношении исследуемого препарата. Про исключение из исследования ничего не сказано. В этом случае употребили бы, вероятно, "discontinued".

А вообще - да, частенько пишут так, что не поймешь, что именно подразумевается под "withdrawal" или "discontinuation", пока протокол не изучишь... :)
