Под «временем Койота» имеется в виду небольшая гравитационная задержка при прыжках между плоскостями. Когда игрок хочет преодолеть препятствие, но не успевает нажать соответствующую клавишу, ему предоставляется некий второй шанс. Персонаж не падает в пропасть, а прыгает, буквально отталкиваясь от воздуха.
