chronically squeezed Explanation: Kind of difficult to express in English, and there are probably better ways to do so. I basically understand it to mean that the theatre scene permanently (chronically) suffers from narrowing of opportunities, tightening of budgets, .... etc., No doubt one of our colleagues will come along soon with a better suggestion. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 mins (2022-07-02 11:54:15 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Maybe something like "chronically beset by difficulties on all sides".... |
