English term or phrase: Time to cane
"The aim of this Updated CSR is to present post-hoc efficacy analyses included on 'time to cane' (confirmed disability progression for at least 24 weeks/48 weeks to EDSS >= 6.0)."

I am editing a machine translation and "time to cane" was translated as "tempo all'utilizzo del bastone" but I am not at all convinced.

I have never heard of it and also an online search didn't bring up many entries, aside a PubMed article on multiple sclerosis relapses, where this is used in the following sentence: Time-dependent Cox proportional hazards models examined the effect of relapses at different time periods (0-5; >5-10; >10 years postonset) on time to cane (Expanded Disability Status Scale [EDSS]) and secondary progressive MS (SPMS).

I found "tempo di canna" but it is used when talking about guns/weapons so I am totally in the dark here.

Explanation:
Ciao Gabriella. Credo che la traduzione non possa essere che quella che hai indicato. Ecco due studi simili in inglese che riportano questa espressione:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3883021/

"With regard to mobility, the proportion of NARCOMS registrants who reported a need for a cane or a worse degree of disability after 30 years of disease was 50% (Figure 1), which is the mean time-to-cane recorded in two recent Canadian natural history studies but is considerably longer than that reported in some of the older studies"

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19890070/

"Time-dependent Cox proportional hazards models examined the effect of relapses at different time periods (0-5; >5-10; >10 years postonset) on time to cane (Expanded Disability Status Scale [EDSS]) and secondary progressive MS (SPMS)."

"Bastone tripode o quadripode"

https://giuliamayer.it/perche-non-usare-tripode-nellictus

"Perché sconsigliare l’uso del tripode (o del quadripode) dopo un ictus? E soprattutto, qual è il bastone corretto da utilizzare?"

Asker: Oh, so it is indeed a cane (bastone) they're talking about. Thanks!

Asker: Sì, ha totalmente senso adesso. Ho cercato in mille modi ma senza aggiungere EDSS nella ricerca e non so perché! Grazie mille dell'aiuto!
