Hola nuevamente,

No estoy muy seguro de la traducción al inglés de nombre de la maya (insecto) que ataca los cultivos de frijoles, y otros.

Contexto:

En la tabla #22 se observan los tipos de plagas que incidieron en la cosecha de frijoles, prevaleciendo:
- La maya que fue mencionada por el 45% de los consultados,
- La gallina ciega expresó el 25%,
- En menor proporción se refirieron a la babosa el 18% y
- marchites bacteriana, la reportaron el 123%.

Al preguntar si utilizaron alguna práctica para el control de plagas, 89 de los afectados aplicaron insecticida orgánico y 20 de ellos mencionaron trampas amarillas.

No estoy muy seguro de mi traducción al inglés de maya. En mi país se ve mucho la "maya" y es un insecto por lo general, de color verde y provoca ampollas en la piel si llega a orinarlo.

Por la imagen, me da la impresión que sería "green stink bug" pero no estoy muy seguro puesto que el documento trata sobre plagas que atacan los cultivos de frijoles.

La maya en agronomía es de origen fúngico que afecta a diferentes cultivos, especialmente a las hortalizas como los tomates, pimientos y berenjenas.
No es un insecto, tampoco es una enfermedad en específico, es un hongo.
y técnicamente se le llama "marchitez bacteriana".

El adulto mide unos 6 milímetros de largo, es de color verde claro con bandas amarillentas transversales en los élitros. Ocasionalmente se presenta en infestaciones altas, causando daño al frijol antes de floración. El daño se manifiesta como orificios de diversos tamaños. Cuando las plantas son chicas pueden destruirlas completamente. En infestaciones muy fuertes, ataca flores y vainas tiernas. Se sugiere el control químico cuando se detecten 2 - 3 (InfoRural, 2019).
Es una plaga altamente problemática, aparece en la etapa de prefloración provocando daños en las hojas, en flores y en las vainas jóvenes de la planta. Es requerido un control químico cuando su población es considerablemente elevada.

Así como existe una gran variedad de insectos, existen una gran variedad de nombres para ellos, inclusive para una sola especie, por ejemplo, en el norte de Nicaragua, los insectos llamados maya y langosta son nombrados como vaquita y cogollero en la zona pacifica del país.
