Webinfo zegt dat er een vloek rust op het verbreken van de beloften, en er wordt gesproken over "brokering a marriage" - misschien komt onze moderne "onderhandelingstafel" er vandaan.... "There is a curious stone called a bargaining stone where deals of every description were performed in times past and woe betides anyone who breaks that deal. Marriage vows are now renewed here." En dit vond ik ook een interessante zin: "If you find airport security a nuisance now, just wait a few years while work rules are steadily carved into collective bargaining stone."
