"3.4 The Rotary Encoders
[...] It is possible to program the encoders to increment or decrement the current value in the software, rather than sending an actual value. [...] To help with this we have listed the names commonly used for each of the relative data methods. We have also provided the data values used to represent data increment and data decrement. [...]
In order to program one of these methods to the rotary encoders on your Axiom, you should assign the MIDI controllers given below:

MIDI CC Endless Data Method Increment Decrement
145 Program Change Increment/Decrement — —
146 2’s Compliment from 64 / Relative (Binary Offset) 065 to 127 063 to 000
147 2’s Compliment from 0 / Relative (2’s Compliment) 001 to 64 127 to 065
148 Sign Magnitude / Relative (Signed Bit) 065 to 127 001 to 063
149 Sign Magnitude / Relative (Signed Bit 2) 001 to 063 065 to 127"

complément à deux / rélatif
Explanation:
GDT gives this (search: twos), and I'm fairly happy this is the standard mathematical / computing term

The 'relative' here seems to be as distinct from 'absolute', in which case I believe 'rélatif' is the correct translation

Sorry, I left off "...de 64" --- that bit's only a guess, but it would make sense, logically...
