Il s'agit bien d'axe traversant, c'est-à-dire que les pattes de la fourches présentent des trous entiers par lesquels passent l'axe de la roue. Il faut donc retiré l'axe en entier pour retirer la roue. Pour ce qui est du système "quick-release", on a le choix :
