修正 Explanation: Just for another idea. 推敲 would be good if the original writer is improving his/her own writing. It is not a uncommon word, though. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2006-10-11 03:55:00 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Oops, no "for". |

原文に忠実な編集 Explanation: Just an educated guess. By the way 推敲 means do one's best to find most suitable expression. In essense it is an action before editing, as editing is a correction made by self or someone else, then improve it to more clarity and/or to enhance more artistically (or linguistically) acceptable level. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2006-10-11 05:00:01 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I realized my previous explanation about 推敲 is not very clear. It simply means self-editing. For instance a writer writes, and rewrites and rewrites until he/she satisfied his own choice of languages. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs (2006-10-11 05:03:09 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- For this reason, since you are editng someone else's work, 推敲 may not be a suitable choice. By the way, when you check Japanese-Japanese dictionaries such as Kouji-en or Dai-genkai you found its derivation. It is from Chinese (not surprisingly). |

整理・編集 Explanation: i think the word 'edit' is the key here, so ’編集’ i didn't want to leave it out. Considering what you mentioned above, "manuscript is clearly and logically presented, concise,.." i think it means '整理', putting things in order. |
