povodeň, záplava Explanation: Or even "potopa" but that's a bit too biblical, I think. Both "povodeň" and "záplava" work fine in Environment & Ecology. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 mins (2007-07-27 06:58:46 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Okay, I have just found an interesting explanation: "povodeň" is the actual natural disaster, and "záplava" is the consequence (water covers everything).
