French term or phrase: axes dégagés
Hi everyone, I am lacking ideas to translate "axes dégagés" here: the ways (already) laid out (in 2006)?Or: the lines (already) traced (in 2006)? Or should I go for something like the "concepts already laid out in 2006"? Any help welcome! Context: The European Commission published a Communication in 2006 on the services of general interest and in particular on the SSGI -Social Services of General Interest- .
"La Commission se réfère ainsi aux axes déjà dégagés en 2006, tel que le service personnalisé : « Il appartient aux autorités publiques de tirer tout le parti de ces possibilités en exigeant des candidats qu’ils mettent au point un concept de service sur mesure (…). Les autorités publiques peuvent par exemple préciser que les candidats doivent répondre aux besoins spécifiques de groupes déterminés d’usagers »."

Explanation:
Basically, this is just wanky bureaucratic jargon, and it deserves nothing better than a (more or less literal) wanky bureaucratic translation.

neutral  CMJ_Trans (X): nuance - these were lines of approach - there is no guarantee that actual measures have yet been instigated

-> simple talks with the competent persons or authorities may be termed measures. Ellen

Explanation:
It's hardly literal, but maybe something like:

the decisions taken in 2006/the 2006 measures...have paved the way for.....

disagree  Janet Cannon: I'm not picking on you, but I can't figure out where you got those equivalents. Not in my dictionary !
3 hrs
-> Let's be light-hearted here (lol). First of all, "axes" can be "courses of direction." dégagé = release (brought out). Dictionaries are just guides. Often times, the right translation is not found in the dico. I'm not following your disagree.

guidelines (already) set out

Explanation:
Catherine, I feel you were close with your first two suggestions, but not "ways". Lines, guidelines, I even thought of "vectors projected" for a really wanky bureaucratic expression! ;) "Traced" is good; "sketched", etc.
