The 'auprès' bit is as 'demander quelque chose auprès de quelqu'un'
This is not the normal preposition but it is used

disagree  Tony M: I can't quite see how you get 'by' from 'auprès de' — but in any case, 'métiers' in this sort of business context doesn't really mean 'professions' in the general, wider sense. There is special terminology that applies here...
