Es geht um einen gräflichen Besuch im Frankreich des 18. Jahrhundert. Der Satz lautet:

"La façade du château représentait l'écusson du comte et de la comtesse avec leurs chiffres symboliques en lacs d'amour: ***c'était du dernier galant***".

Irgendwie will mir zum eingesternten Teil nichts einfallen. Es geht wohl in die Richtung: "Das war der letzte Schrei" - so verstehe ich das zumindest. Bloß passt dies nicht in das entsprechende Umfeld im 18. Jahrhundert.

Ich meine, "galant" hat hier eher die altmodische Bedeutung von schön, elegant, anmutend.
