the confirmation (enclosed with this policy) must be signed Explanation: I agree that "policy" is an appropriate translation for "Merkblatt". It's hard to know the exact relationship between the two documents, but the confirmation is presumably enclosed with or attached to the policy. It may even form a part of the policy, perhaps a tear-off form at the bottom. |

must be signed by affixing a signature to the letter of confirmation Explanation: ...better than saying that the Merkblatt must be signed on the letter of confirmation. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 hrs (2015-12-07 04:10:19 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Thank you, philgoddard, for the heads up about the tautology in my rendering. We can get around the problem by adding a 'dash', as below: must be signed -- by affixing a signature to the letter of confirmation -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 hrs (2015-12-07 04:19:22 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Alternatively, if you're translating Merkblatt as 'policy', then the policy must be accepted by affixing a signature to the letter of confirmation or the policy must be read and acknowledged by affixing a signature to the letter of confirmation |
