Explanation:
Handelt es sich bei diesem Ausdruck nicht vielleicht um eine frei erfundene Redewendung. Ich kenne nur "in freier Wildbahn".

Jedenfalls gibt es im neuen Wahrig bei Laufbahn keinen Hinweis darauf, daß es eine Art Synonym von Wildbahn sein könnte.
