pink marble Explanation: Could this be it? barocco calatino (o "stagnatu"), un barocco catanese (marca "Liotru"), un barocco palazzolese (certuni lo chiamano "acreste", proprio con la "c"), un barocco di Noto (o "precipitato") e, dulcis in fundo, un barocco militellese (o "bastardone"). Senza dimenticare l'identificativo "tardo" (e non ritardato, secondo la errata interpretazione di qualche malevolo, perché nessuno si sognerebbe di parlare di barocco ritardato!), che starebbe per ultimo residuo, una specie di colpo di coda artistico. Secondo la vecchia terminologia zootecnica il "Mondano" era un colombo indefinito, non omogeneo, frutto degli incroci più imprevisti ,calmo, rustico e con attitudine al volo limitata. Si trattava di colombi originari della Francia e dell'Italia che risultavano descritti già dagli autori latini di 2000 anni fa (Zannoni G.1969). Attualmente il Mondano è una razza fissata e rientra fra le razze francesi. Non è quindi più in uso il termine Mondano per le razze italiane. Sono rustici e di taglia medio grande (800-900 grammi). Molto allevato come piccione da carne nelle campagne modenesi prima dell'avvento delle razze da carne di origine americana (King, Texani). L'origine della sua denominazione deriva dal fatto che, allevati sotto i porticati, questi colombi covavano a terra sotto le banche su cui i contadini tenevano i sacchi di cereali ("sotto la panca" etimologicamente). Si allontana poco dai ricoveri ed ha carattere litigioso. E' pure detto bastardone per la sua presunta origine da incrocio.
