This is one of those lovely "化" words that often present conundrums for us J>E translators. Here is the sentence:

バッテリー冷却ダクトの消音機能向上は、すでにトレンド化しています。
I have some possibilities, but I am not sure which one (if any) are the most in keeping with the meaning:
A. Are continuing to change
B. There continue to be new trends
C. Trends continue to develop

My answer above is what I interpret to be the literal meaning of this phrase. You may have already figured that out.

Rather than meaning "a trend is developing" I think the trend has already developed. (yes, sometimes this can be した but that sounds awkward here). Not so much a sense of continuation as a singular trend is becoming more commonplace (after all , that's what trends do. They are new at first but before you know it everyone is doing it. )

I see this sentence as possibly meaning that the noise reduction functionality for battery cooling ducts is a something that all the manufacturers are now doing, where a few years ago only a few market leaders may have been doing so. The gist here is that it is no longer a product differentiator, because it has become commonplace enough to be considered a trend.

It is not an issue of various trends developing, but an issue of further commonalization of this singular trend (which is improvements in noise reduction functionality in battery cooling ducts).

In this sense, the original meaning is closest to your option A), but not quite :-) .

  -> Agreed. Also, in these cases ている・でいる show a something has happened and still occuring. A trend has developed, and the trend is still active. A person has died, and the person is still dead.

If I were you, B. would be my choice. トレンド化 in my interpretation is like "ongoing trendization" (provided latter word exists). So that the gist is that "the トレンド is here to stay, but it will contintue to evolve". For that matter C. could be another possibility, except it will be a techninical evolution of lessor scale rather than just a change.
Just a thought.
