leave in Russian Explanation: This is the title of the book, only translate if there is an English translation of it. At least that would be my suggestion. |

Necro Reality as a Mirror Explanation: I think it should be left in Russian, with the translation in parenthesis. It's not much use to a non-Russian-speaking reader to see the name of a book and have no clue what it is about--even if no English translation exists. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2009-08-02 16:33:24 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- In this particular instance, it sounds lilke it would be advisable to translate this book into no languages at all, and if possible, put the Russian edition in the "recycle bin." :) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 20 hrs (2009-08-03 11:50:13 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- There are many English Internet citations for this term, as well as for "necrorealism." Some of them have to do with some sort of singing [?] group, but others are more general. I suspect, however, that VooDooEtc. in the discussion, above, may be right--that it's a typo. |

Necrorealism As a Mirror Explanation: There are nearly 5000 citations in English in the Internet related to the St. Petersburg-based film movement of Yevgeni Yufit, which call it "Necrorealism." The problem remains that in Russian it's typically called "некрореализм", so I don't know if there's some special significance to this book title being as if mapped back into English - "-реалити". But, if this film movement is what it's about, "necrorealism" is what it's usually called. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 21 hrs (2009-08-03 12:17:15 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Looks like VooDooMooRt did the right research. So, it would be "The Necrorealists As a Mirror". If he/she enters that as an answer, I'll vote for it! |
