La sustancia (vehículo o equipo reactivo) aporta al radiofármaco la característica de dirigirse hacia un órgano o tejido concreto (diana) por el cual, debido a sus características fisicoquímicas o biológicas, presenta una afinidad selectiva, incluso puede participar en la función fisiológica del mismo. Por tanto, no presenta ninguna actividad farmacodinámica, aunque sí unas propiedades farmacocinéticas fundamentales para que el radiofármaco consiga su objetivo. El isótopo radiactivo (radionucleido o radionúclido), aporta al radiofármaco la emisión de radiación (radiactividad) que servirá para el diagnóstico o tratamiento según los casos: |
