Right, I did find 'belt tunnel' on Swedish sites selling these pants. But here is a seemingly British site selling similar Swedish products using my suggestion as 'wide belt loop back.' I have a hard time thinking this 'tunnel loop' is a Swedish invention, but you're right about 'belt tunnel' having other uses in English.

Here is a fashion reference that identifies 'belt loop width' on p. 4. Something to work with perhaps.
