To say 士多店 is like saying "Bento Box" in English for the Japanese bento. A big no no.


Once in a while you do hear older people refer to the whole thing, IMO it's a combination of both. Nowadays I wouldn't expect any young people to even use the word 士多 as frequently as it has been in the past.

香港人多用鋪,內地用店。士多成了店鋪的類別,因此有士多店,糕餅店,雪糕店,便利店,等等。老一輩的香港人也會用“士多鋪”,如米鋪、金鋪、雜貨鋪,海味鋪,等等。
