Hello,
My new colleague is having an issue adding our TM to Deja Vu projects.
She keeps getting this error message:
"Deja Vu was unable to open the file you specified"
I can add this TM to Deja Vu projects on my computer without issue.
Any advice please? | | | Check if all required TM files are in place | Sep 23, 2024 |
Hi,
Sure.
This type of error can mean one or several required TM files are missing from your colleague's location.
The local TM in a Deja Vu project should have the following structure:
1. File name.dvmdb
2. File name.[source language code].dvmdi
3. File name.[target language code].dvmdi
4. File name.dvmdx
So if you copy the "File name".dvmdb only to a new location, Deja Vu will throw an error - something like 'Unable to open the data... See more Hi,

Cheers

How familiar with DVX3 is your new colleague?

Whenever I've had a misbehaving TM or TB, I would repair it. Some with a project. Unlike other CAT tools, DVX3 lets you repair projects, translation memories and termbases. I would suggest your colleague to get in that habit.
Also, let's not forget that Atril has published user guides. Get in the habit of consulting them: https://bityl.co/S9FI

Thanks all. She managed to add the TM but no matches appeared in the target segments after she did pretranslate. I have used the same TM and source file and got lots of exact matches, so not sure what the issue is now! | |

You might want to double-check your project, TM and 'Pretranslate' settings. Please PM me if you need further guidance. | | | Mario Chávez ארצות הברית Local time: 20:27 חבר (2024) מאנגלית לספרדית + ... It could be mismatched language variants | Sep 24, 2024 |
Silly me encountered a similar situation in the past whenever I used Spain-Spanish in one TM and US Spanish in a similar TM. What languages are your team using then?
I know most project managers show an appalling incompetence when talking about languages for a project: they say they need a French translator but you have to poke them in the sides to reveal which French variety: Canadian, Parisian, etc.
