I use Outlook, and it's open 24 hours a day. Every no and then, I check my inboxes, and clean them up as often as possible. I don't keep more than about 10 e-mails in my inboxes: only pending issues and unfinished jobs really. Also, I get a beep everytime a new message arrives, so if I'm waiting for something important or in the middle of an important job, I can check it immediately.
