Are forum posters notified if their post was quoted/replied?
I asked a couple of simple questions, quoting the source post, and got no reply.
Were the original posters notified?

No.

The first poster is permanently subscribed to replies (it's impossible to turn off, which is why I still get notifications of replies to an old post in the scam forum that I posted 10 years ago, despite the fact that no-one is actually responding to MY post).

A way of tagging specific people in a post would definitely be useful, especially for those like me whose posts are vetted/delayed.

...of any new message in a discussion thread, whether they are quoted or not, they enabled the E-mail tracking box in the thread and saved changes, a feature available to paid members only.

Philippe Etienne  are you sure, this email notification ticking box is only available to paid members? I just tried it out and it seems to be working for me, too.

Therefore I'm wrong and you're right: the e-mail tracking option is available to everybody, which is handy.
I don't know where I got this false idea from, perhaps the feature was restricted to paid members at one point.
