Deborah Mends (asker) Jan 22, 2006:
Thanks Jana! But I'm perplexed, I checked GDT first before submitting my question, and following your response checked again - under "Audiovisual" and under "Cinema" I find only "retake" and "match". What am I doing wrong? This is not the first time that someone has given me an answer they say is in the GDT that I can't find...

link shot

The term refers to either continuity or smooth transition (link shot), depending on the context. It looks like in this context, link shot is the translation. This translation is corroborated in Harrap's Unabridged and Grand dictionnaire terminologique.

match-frame shot

That's usualyl what I would expect it to mean, though with so little context, it's hard to be sure. It sounds to me as if they start with a shot of something viwed from the interior, and then cut to the exactly matching shot of the saem thing, but with the camera now outside --- you know, shot of shiny car in showroom cuts to matching shot of same car in Arizona, and then it screams off into the distance...

Again, more context indicating at which point in the process this happens woudl be helpful.

raccord sonore : bloop, sound cut

agree Tony M : Although I'm not very confident about these terms for this particular context, these are certainly the normal meanings for this term -- it is unfortunately used to mean a whole variety of things!
