I prefer active to lively for the rather abstract "demand". aside: the negation seems non-idiomatic in the German version: one would rather say "und konnten sich keiner regen Nachfrage erfreuen."

: Not necessarily so, the German uses "und" rather than "aber" or "jedoch". You might be adding an incorrect emphasis by using "but".
