Personally, I'm not sure that it is that appropriate to try to translate the headline question as a 'unit' - you probably need to re-structure the whole thing.

For some months, we have been involved in [ or just "we have been"] considering the options as regards...

Another option I sometimes use is solutions based on "deliberation" - I think I got that from another kudoz Q and thought it was pretty handy.
