Italian to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) payment terms

I'm having trouble understanding this sentence. Need a holiday! Does it mean that interest on arrears is due only if a written request is sent before receiving the late payment? I intially thought it meant that interest was to be applied on the period preceding the late payment, but the line above it states "con decorrenza da apposita richiesta..."


Le Parti convengono inoltre che le fatture dell’Agenzia relative alle spese per la realizzazione della campagna (art. 7.1), agli onorari (art. 7.2), alle spese di segreteria (art. 7.3) siano pagate da XXXX a 60 giorni data fattura fine mese con bonifico bancario.

In difetto di pagamento, entro tale termine matureranno a favore dell’Agenzia – subordinatamente e con decorrenza da apposita richiesta scritta della stessa, ***anteriore rispetto al tardivo pagamento*** – interessi di mora nella misura del 3% annuo.
