fields where crops are rotated and fallow land

Rotation fields, or rotated fields sounds odd in English.

Fallow land is land that is not seeded for a season to allow the soil to "rest" (a system which was largely superceded by the rotation system). The idea is to restore the chemical nutrients which are exhausted by constant cultivation of a single variety of crop.

Nowadays land which is not seeded may also be called set-aside (noun) if this is done in order to get subsidies!
