“水深火热”这个词是我小学时从一篇课文中学到的。课文说的是台湾高雄（或台北）市的一位人力车夫的一次遭遇，那位人力车夫把一位二流子载到目的地以后，二流子竟然不给钱，而后扬长而去。于是，人力车夫“肺都气炸了”。据此，——可见台湾劳动人民生活多么悲惨，课文说，“台湾人民现在仍生活在‘水深火热’之中”。
我想，只有生活在天堂或童话世界中的人，所见的都是夜不闭户、路不拾遗，所以才会把存在流氓坐霸王车这种现象，看成是十恶不赦、匪夷所思，因此生出生活在“水深火热”之中的感慨来。
见到外国人提到这个话题时，我得把这个故事说说，因此不知道谁能把这个成语和“肺都气炸了”这个短语翻译一下？本人汉译英水平有限，多谢了！
