French term

dans le cadre de la cascade

French to English Other Agriculture Small ruminant farming
This is from a passage about small ruminants and the fact that there's very little medicine available that's intended just for them. Can anyone tell me what the « dans le cadre de la cascade » bit means?

Thanks!

Nothing to do with "cascades"! Actually, it turns out to be something that is known as the "prescribing cascade" in English. Bet you really wanted to know that!
CMJ_Trans (X) Mar 31, 2008:
would need more background context - is the first mention of the said cascade?

one product after another

Given the context that would make sense - no specific drugs for those animals so they try one after another from the "therapeutic arsenal".

by way of diffusion

i.e. diffusion from the veterinary medicine for one species to use in another species. Much the way that adult medicines are used in smaller doses for children - a practice that has come under serious question.
