Hello everyone,
I am translating a contract and am stuck on the phrase, "appel aux fins de réformation". Here is the context:
La sentence arbitrale sera rendue en dernier ressort et ne pourra faire l’objet d’aucun appel aux fins de réformation.
I've had no luck with my dictionaries, the usual go-to websites (e.g. IATE, etc.) and "appel aux fins de réformation" only gets 8 ghits. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

: any refs?? the only G-hit "appeal for the purposes of reform" gets is the answer given to this question . /are you so sure that réformation means reform here? It doesn't make any sense in this context

In this legal context: appel = appeal; aux fins de = for the purposes of; réformation = reform. Just because it does not have a G-Hit does not mean that it is no good. I have translated the sentence and it makes perfect sense to me.

| Thank you, Phil. For the record, of course I did check the glossary on ProZ and I did find the entry you're referring to. However, as the entry is for "un pouvoir de réformation", and not what I was asking exactly "appel aux fins de réformation", I didn't want to automatically assume that "réformation" must always be translated as "revision" in all cases. In any case, thank you for your answer. |

Le juge d'appel statue comme amiable compositeur lorsque l'arbitre avait cette mission (article 1483 du CPC)
